Episode one of Surviving Angola introduces Kunta Gable and his civil rights attorney John Adcock. We begin with a brief introduction to Kunta and how he found himself incarcerated in August of 1994 with a life sentence, for a crime he did not commit. Kunta was framed by infamous crooked police officer Len Davis, Sammie Williams, and a few other members of their gang of dirty officers. An attorney by the name of Julie Tizzard who worked in the District Attorney's office as an Assistant DA, later represented Kunta, despite the conflict of interest. He was unaware of her connection to his prosecution. After serving 28 years he and his codefendants were exonerated in October 2022. Kunta is a voice for the voiceless prisoners, and a trailblazer in the fight for reformation of the Luisiana justice system. This is his story.
